This model depicts the USS Allen M. Sumner - lead ship of the Sumner class of US Navy destroyers as she was in June of 1967, six years after her modernization in the FRAM II programme. Along with the Gearing class destroyer, the Sumner class made up a large part of the US Navy's destroyer fleet and were in service during the height of the Cold War.

The master was created using Rapid Prototyping in high - resolution, giving extra fine details and crisp surfaces. The model is cast is polyurethane resin andl features painted decks and a full set of decals. The paint colors are authentic USN Haze grey and Deck grey. The photo etched masts are highly detailed and made from 0.1mm brass sheet.
