This model depicts the USS Joseph P. Kennedy. A Gearing class destroyer built during the Second World War, here she appears as she was in June of 1969 after her modernization in the FRAM programme. The Gearing class destroyer made up much of the backbone of the US destroyer fleet at the hieght of the cold war and succesfully operated in other navies when they were sold on after decades of service in the US Navy. Some sailed until very recently, meaning that they are one of the longest-lived of any warship designs.

The master was created using Rapid Prototyping in high - resolution, giving extra fine details and crisp surfaces. The model is cast in fine white metal. The model features a painted flight deck and a full set of decals. The paint colors are authentic USN Haze grey and Deck grey and the photo etched mast is highly detailed and made from 0.15mm brass sheet.
